From Masaharu Shuzo in Miyazaki, Aisome Blue is a variation of their Aisome line of shochus, known for being smooth and easy to drink. Aisome blue is made with white koji, vacuum distilled and relatively light at 20% ABV, making it a easy sipping drink with ice or water. Fabulous quote from the Masaharu website: “It is a book that announces the beginning of a fun time, suitable for a toast.”
JC April 2023: It’s a bit light for me personally, as it gets watered down by even a bit of ice, but it’s a nice intro for non-sweet potato drinkers. I get some faint menthol flavors on the palate, but not much else and it is missing much of the characteristic imo smell and taste. I’d rather have something like Yamada or Daiyame if I’m looking for something light. 6/10
